CAREER LEVEL UP SCHOLARSHIP

The mission of the Southern California Aviation Association (SCAA) is to harness the passion and dedication shared by seasoned and aspiring aviation professionals by providing education, networking, mentoring, and scholarship programs in order to advance, connect and empower a safe and collaborative Southern California Aviation Community. 

SCAA is looking to help business aviation participants elevate their careers through scholarships, for ANY role! Would a dispatch certificate help you achieve the next step in your career? Maybe it's a specific leadership or safety certification? Or do you need some help to get that next type rating? 

Simply put what is next in your career and what educational background you need to help you grow in our industry?

No matter your current position or what you want to do next, we want to hear what form of education would help you grow in our industry. 

Scholarships Details: 

  • Eligibility Criteria: This scholarship opportunity is currently open to individuals of all levels of business aviation professionals or if you are not currently employed in business aviation, you must have experience working in business aviation with intent to re-enter the industry

Scholarship Policies, Rules and Regulations

 
Scholarship Policies
 
The Southern California Aviation Association’s (SCAA) mission is to support, promote and coalesce the community and industry as a vital and growing asset to the Southern California Region, balancing economic development with quality of life. SCAA has a voice at the local, state and regional levels, and is proactive and effective in supporting aviation on behalf of its members. SCAA encourages young people to become involved in aviation and provides scholarships to financially support keen students intending to pursue a career in aviation. SCAA also encourages aviation professionals to enhance their career by providing scholarships for advanced training and professional awards.  All scholarships are paid or provided are through funds or in kind contributions provided by private donors.
 
SCAA awards scholarships are based based on information submitted on SCAA’s application and are selected and awarded on a non-discriminatory manner by SCAA’s scholarship committee.  All applicants must reside in Southern California (Santa Barbara to San Diego) and must meet the specific additional eligibility requirements set forth under each scholarship.   
 
Limit of Scholarship Award Funding to Individual Students/Pilots
 
All scholarship funds (scholarships and training awards) may not exceed direct costs of the specific flight training in question and are paid directly (or provided in kind by) the flight school or training provider and cannot be redeemed for cash.
 
All scholarship financial commitments may be adjusted to ensure that total assistance is not used for any purposes other than the specific indicated training.
 
Scholarship/Award Acceptance & Terms
 
Acceptance of an individual award is an agreement to the terms and conditions of that award as well as all policies governing SCAA’s scholarships. Every award package (scholarships or in-kind training) is subject to audit.

SCAA reserves the right to adjust individual awards to ensure effective use of scholarship dollars and use for the intended training.
 
Scholarship recipients must maintain the applicable required minimum eligibility criteria during the entire scholarship period. Any scholarship recipient who fails to maintain the applicable required minimum eligibility criteria will automatically forfeit the scholarship. Appeal of scholarship termination requires a written notice of appeal to SCAA. All appeals are reviewed by the SCAA scholarship committee.
